Foto Friday: I love me some Creepy

Recently I have been in a creepy mood. The kind of creepy that keeps you shifting around at night, unable to sleep, forcing every thought back the eerie skin crawling moment. I like the goosebumps and the hair that tingles at the back of your neck. The heart stopping when you feel something is behind you in the dead of night.

So it’s no wonder that this week’s Foto Friday is a creepy outtake from the Prophecy of the Sisters’ trailer. Yeah.. I know. It’s an old picture but I couldn’t resist sharing this picture when I edited it and it looked like this:

Many of you know that of late I have been playing around with a fun little feature on my blog. Book Cover a la Vania is my way of exploring and having fun with Photoshop and yet tying that in with my passion with photography.

Recently I have been approached to do some minor projects from authors like Michelle Zink who asked me to do bookmarks and postcards for her Word Ninja and tour swag. It has come to my attention that maybe many either have a hard time making them or just don’t know where to go and what to do. I decided to expand my portfolio and to get to help you, authors, I am offering my services. Until I can show you my shiny design of Michelle’s bookmarks (check out her post about it!) and postcards here’s a mock bookmark that I did for my mock book.

I am backtracking a bit. I want to show you what I have so far before I show you my most recent work. I am building up to something kinda big so bear with me!

Anyways.. this was for my adopted niece’s newborn photoshoot from like November I think. This reminds me that maybe I should go see her soon. Haven’t seen her since then.

I am so elated and excited to show you these pictures! I know you will love this precious baby, too! She’s the cutest thing! I’ll show you what I mean.

PRINTS?!?!

One thing about doing film photography is the simple beauty of making too much than you need. I have a lot of prints lying around and if you are interested in a photo of mine I am selling them.

I will be posting pictures of the ones I do have but if there’s one you are particularly interested in… let me know!

Email me at vandsmedia[at]gmail.com to request prints or if you have questions. ALL prints are $50 till supplies last. Once school starts again I’ll be able to make more and will have new ones.

Visit my flickr for available work.

Color Photography

Last year was my first year to experience color photography. And I love it. No this isn’t color digital photography…these pictures are all film, baby! And what a hassle it is. Color correction? Oh yeah, color correction involves countless hours in a pitch black room tweaking dials of magenta and yellow to fix the image so it is as close to the ‘real’ color as possible. Yeah. HOURS!

But the darkroom is one of my favorite places and as much as I enjoy digital photography, film is still my baby and my first love.

Welcome to Vania’s Life Captures

For those who don’t know me, my name’s Vania and I am a photographer.

Well, that was boring.

I bleed in colors but most of the time it’s black and white. Photographs flutter in my mind like butterflies seeking escape! This blog is just that; the butterflies’ escape!

I am hoping to update this blog not only with my photographs but also with an assortment of flavorful projects. I hope you check back often and come see what I am up to!
